Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, that those who read it may run with it. Habakkuk 2:1

Our Vision

Gather the Prophets is for everyone, not a select few, because prophecy is for everyone.

We are here to serve, and within serving, have vision for where we see Gather the Prophets ministering.

The vision for Gather the Prophets is:

  • That all who walk with Jesus may learn to hear the voice of their Shepherd (John 10:27)

Scripture tells us to desire spiritual gifts, especially prophecy. Conversation is an important part of our connection to each other, and it is no different for our connection with the Lord. The first and foremost vision of Gather the Prophets is that all who are born of God may learn to talk with Him daily.

  • That we would gain understanding of what scripture says about hearing God

It is important that we remain rooted in scripture, so that we do not create theology or doctrine about prophecy that isn't accurate. In addition, scripture itself is a fantastic tool for learning to hear what the Lord wants to say to us. In everything we do here at Gather the Prophets, knowing and understanding scripture is foundational.

  • That we would gain practical application for hearing God, and understand the unique way he speaks to us as individuals

An important part of learning is practicing, and so inviting you into simple yet practical exercises is going to equip you to explore how God speaks to you as a unique individual. He speaks so personally and loves it when His children are creative, experimenting with ways of trying new things. It's the same with learning to hear Him: try out some exercises, figure out what works for you in your relationship with Him, and have fun!

  • That we would become a community of encouraging people, sharing and learning from one another as we step into a deeper relationship with the Lord

Iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17) and Gather the Prophets serves this process by offering closed groups where we can share our experiences, experimenting, and test the waters in our own exploration, in a safe space.

  • That we would begin to learn how to listen to the Lord in our every day, when speaking to those who don't yet know Him

The Lord sees us, and sees those who don't yet know Him, and He loves us all. He has good things for all of us, and at times, hearing from the Lord can allow us to speak into someone's life who needs to meet Jesus: Jesus is in us, and can speak through us! What better reason to learn to hear the Lord than to speak His love directly into someone's life. Gather the prophets wants to equip people to be confident in using prophecy as a way of evangelising, being led by the Holy Spirit to shine Jesus.

  • That we would begin to understand the normality of hearing the Lord in all circumstances, allowing Him to speak into our lives whatever we are doing

1 Thessalonians 5:17 says 'pray continually', which, here at Gather the Prophets, we recognise as the constant flow of thought between our minds and the mind of Christ. When we allow our lives to be entwined with His, then prayer never ends with 'Amen.' It is a continual conversation, where in all circumstances we invite the Lord in, and allow Him to talk to us about it. With practice, it becomes so normal.

  • That we would understand how to give prophetic words to others, as we sharpen our hearing of His voice, and are guided by His Spirit.

The main vision of Gather the Prophets is to learn to hear the Lord for ourselves, within the covenant relationship we have in Christ. Secondary to this is the giving of prophetic words to others. We recognise the biblical principle of prophecy in church operating to edify, encourage and comfort, and emphasise that honouring the leadership of your home church is important, so encourage you to have open conversations with your leadership should you wish to step into this. As you grow and learn, this function of the prophetic will be explored, after first being confident in your ability to hear His voice for yourself.
